Dedication, that's what you need

Firefox 3 has broken (OK. set) the record for most downloaded, erm, download in history.

Fair play I say. Despite the claims of 'hype' I think it's a great example of my newly-discovered-but-very-appropriate-in-lots-of-PR-discussions analogy, the lighthouse effect*.

*Shine brightly enough and people will flock to you.

Wanted film poster rocks Stockwell

This is the best movie poster ever. Not only did everyone at Stockwell station stare at it, but it contains at least six of my top ten favourite things. Fine work Wanted creative types.

Does Twitter make a noise?

I love this interview from Fox News with Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter. Reminds me why it's tough to explain this stuff sometimes.

The new iPhone is here

iPhone 2.0 was announced an hour ago at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference. I followed the action at Engadget - which was great and updated every few seconds with excerpts of the presentation and some nice pics.

So, the new iPhone...

  • is 3G (so loads web pages via mobile almost as fast as wifi)
  • is lighter (not much)
  • is thicker (a bit) Update - or might be thinner, reports vary
  • has GPS (and a tracker that 'pings' with your current location)
  • has a black back (erm, yay?)
  • features a flush headphone jack (yawn)
  • is out on July 11
Six days before my birthday. Perfect.

The iPhone countdown begins

Apple's online stores have just gone down worldwide. That can only mean one thing - new products! Steve Jobs' keynote kicks off at 7pm UK-time. I'll be following the news over at the Summize WWDC page.

War rationing shouldn't be funny

New iPhone tomorrow?

I'm pretty excited about the Apple announcements due tomorrow. Here are my favourite iPhone rumours so far...

Glasshouse's Twitter guide

Marketing agency Glasshouse Partnership have created this attractive and compelling guide to corporate Twittering. It's a nice collection of views on Twitter - if a little simplified. The question remains - will businesses ever learn to use Twitter without irritating me?

Rocky road (aka Nick Booth gets a punch in the face)

Fair play to Nick Booth, a journalist on The Inquirer, for stepping in the ring and getting punched in the head for charity.

Plurk?

Twitter clone Plurk has crossed my path three times via various blogs and tweets today. I checked it out - it's obviously for kids. This gave it away, from the FAQ:

What is Plurk? A really snazzy site that allows you to showcase the events that make up your life, and follow the events of the people that matter to you, in deliciously digestible short messages called plurks.
And:
What are qualifiers? Qualifiers are yummy color coded words which are commonly used by our members to start plurks.
Mind you, do kids really say 'snazzy' and 'yummy'? Sounds more like my Mum trying to be 'down with the kids'. No offence, Mum.

And the timeline-style dashboard confused my aging and addled brain.
