Facebook out-Twitters Twitter

One morning, Twitter is going to wake up and find Facebook sitting on the end of the bed, staring at it.

Facebook's slightly scary, Single White Female-esque metamorphosis into a Twitter clone has taken a turn for the serious. Facebook is now trying to out-Twitter Twitter by highlighting SMS for status updates for users in the UK in a big spash box after the login screen.

Back in the old days of Twitter - you know, a year ago or so – SMS was the whole point of Twitter. Then, as its popularity grew along with the number of desktop and phone clients, it took the deeply unpleasant (for them and us) decision to stop SMS updates in the UK.

Since then, SMS has returned on Twitter, but only for Vodafone users. How strange that Facebook is currently signed with all networks except Vodafone.
